Jageshwar Dham is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and is believed to have been established by Adi Shankaracharya. It was later renovated by the Katyuri Dynasty. Situated at an altitude of 1,870 metres in the Almora district of Uttarakhand, this sacred site is surrounded by majestic deodar forests, creating a serene and spiritual atmosphere.

Best Time to Visit Jageshwar Dham (Almora)

The temple can be visited throughout the year. However, the most favourable months are April to June and September to December, when the weather remains pleasant and ideal for sightseeing.

Jageshwar Dham (Almora) is renowned for being home to one of the largest clusters of temples in the world. The complex consists of over 125 temples of various sizes and 174 exquisite sculptures. In 2016, it was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List, highlighting its historical and architectural importance.

Historically, travellers en route to Kailash Mansarovar were expected to halt here to seek Lord Shiva’s blessings, making it a significant spiritual stopover.

After receiving blessings at the temple, visitors can explore the ASI Museum, located just nearby. The museum, established by the Archaeological Survey of India, showcases local artefacts and has no entry fees.
